Description

In this four-week mini-course students will be inspired by the surrounding beds of heirloom plants from the 18th and 19th centuries and the majestic trees that dot the formal grand lawn of the former Governor's Mansion at this very special place. The instructor will be on hand offering both beginner and more advanced instruction and guidance throughout the morning via individual and group critiques. Open to students of all media (pastels, oil, acrylic and watercolor paints) and all levels. Lightweight easels chairs and tables will be provided on location at the Morven Museum, 55 Stockton Street in Princeton.

 

Important: Students should bring their favorite materials to the first class (7/11) which will meet at the Arts Council of Princeton with all other classes held on location at the Morven Museum weather permitting.

Instructor

Charles David Viera is an artist and educator with an MFA from Brooklyn College. Formerly an adjunct associate professor at Long Island University, he has also taught at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, the New York Figurative Academy, the Parsons School of Design, and Pratt Institute. In 2011 Charles was awarded the ACP’s Katherine M. Kapoor Artist-in-Residence award. His paintings have been exhibited at numerous galleries and museums including the Brooklyn Museum, the Nassau County Museum, First Street Gallery, the Adam Gimbel Gallery, and locally at the Ellarslie Museum in Trenton, the Nassau Club in Princeton, and the New Hope Arts Center in New Hope, PA.
