Description

10:00 am – 3:00 pm (with a half-hour break for lunch)

Level: Intermediate

Rain date: Friday May 24

This workshop will take place on the beautiful grounds of Morven Museum. We’ll begin the first day with a demo and discussion of equipment and methods for painting on location. In the afternoon we will focus on composition and completing a few small sketches of scenes on the property. Sketching is a great way to become familiar with the scene which you will use as a basis for a painting. On the second day the instructor will work with each person individually to help students select the appropriate palette, transfer their sketches to the canvas, and complete a painting. We will end the day with a critique and suggestions for further development of the paintings.

I love being outside observing light, colors, and movement so I choose to paint plein-air. Being in the environment inspires me to create unique compositions that reflect what I consider special about the location. I use my skills as an artist to translate the scene to the canvas, capturing my emotional response.

I discovered my passion for art when I took a drawing class in college. I was hooked. My determination and obsession with art has led me to study with many artists whose work I admire, as well as to take classes at art schools such as The Art Students League of New York and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. I am grateful to be on this journey that always brings me joy and that changes me and my art in ways that I cannot anticipate.
