Description

Explore the nude human figure through monoprint; a unique and surprising printmaking technique bridging drawing, painting and printmaking. In this workshop, artists will learn the expressive techniques of additive and subtractive monoprint, and endeavor to employ these (and more!) in the creation of a suite of prints from timed poses. Artists will receive instruction on observation of the model as well as demonstrations of printmaking techniques throughout the workshop. Artists will be working on 11x15” plates on half-sheets of archival printmaking papers.

Artists are asked to supply:
  • $32 material fee, payable to the instructor (covers paper, inks, solvents and additional miscellaneous printmaking needs)
  • Brushes and mark-making tools suitable for oil-based media
  • Pad of newsprint (12x18”) in which to transport your prints after the workshop
  • 4H pencil
  • Any items (like bubble wrap, string, lace, sponges, etc.) that might create interesting marks, or tools that speak to your art-making practice; we will have some of this on-hand
Optional:
  • Any water-soluble media, like watercolor, Caran D’Ache Aquarelle Crayons, Stabilo Pencils, etc. that might enhance your prints/process.
