Description

Designed for intermediate students, explore color studies through this 10 week intensive focus with teaching artist Barbara DiLorenzo. Gain an understanding of complementary and contrasting color schemes and learn how to make your paintings visually pop. Students will work on drawing, value, shape, color and design and slowly progress from simple to more difficult projects. Student projects may include self portraits, landscapes, still life projects.

 

Materials: Please bring your preferred painting supplies to the first class.

Instructor
Barbara DiLorenzo is a children’s book author and illustrator. Her first picture book was Renato and the Lion, which received a starred review from Booklist and was named a Bank Street Best Book of the Year, a Junior Library Guild selection, and a CBC Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People. She is also the author and illustrator of Quincy: The Chameleon Who Couldn’t Blend In, a finalist for the Crystal Kite Award. Her forthcoming book, One Thursday Afternoon, aims to help children use nature, art, and companionship to cope with anxiety. Barbara graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and studied under Mary Beth McKenzie at the Art Students League in New York. She is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society as well as the co-president of the Children's Book Illustrators Group of New York. Barbara loves teaching and aims to bring out the unique voice in all artists. To see more of her work, please visit www.barbaradilorenzo.com.
