This exciting session with printmaker and book artist Dave DiMarchi will help you to create personalized books, ‘zines and posters while exploring illustration and design. Daily assignments will be fun and encourage individual creativity.
Tech Requirements: Wifi, a computer or other device with a built in camera, and a Zoom account. Students will receive an email with instructions prior to the first day.
Materials: All materials included for those who enroll by the Wednesday before camp begins. Art boxes filled with materials for the week will be ready for pick up at the Arts Council the Friday before camp begins. Parents will be emailed to set up a convenient time for pick up. We will be using the following materials in this camp:
Paper (10 sheets of regular 8.5x11” and 10 sheets of 11x17” printer paper, plus 10 sheets of drawing paper and 10 sheets of watercolor paper, both 12x18”)
Colored Pencils, Markers, Crayons, Watercolors (+ brushes)
Collage Materials (sourced from around camper homes: magazines, newspapers, clip art, photographs, etc.)
David DiMarchi is a multi-disciplinary printmaker and teaching artist working in letterpress, papermaking, silkscreen and book forms. He received his BFA in Printmaking and Books from the University of Delaware and has continued to teach and study across the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area for the past 10 years. He maintains a small collaborative studio and art space in New Hope, PA working closely with artists to master artmaking techniques and instruction. He is also the owner or 9 in Hand Press, a pre-press graphic design studio concentrating on unique, hand-built graphics, typography and illustration.
