Say Hola to Art! Mixed Media, Drawing & Painting
Ages: 5 yrs. to 10 yrs.
Art happens here on Saturdays! Look forward to having fun with a variety of techniques and media in thought-provoking themes and artist studies every weekend in this class. While looking at both old and contemporary artists, students will learn basic artistic principles – developing skills and confidence each session. Color theory, perspective, proportion will be balanced with imaginative art making! The goal is to make learning skills accessible to younger artists while having fun. About the Instructor: Veronica Olivares-Weber has been an art and Spanish instructor for almost 20 years. She discovered her passion for teaching children when she volunteered at the Children Garden Studio in NYC where she taught art and Montessori classes. During that time, she was studying ceramics at Teachers’ College and Art History classes at Columbia University. Even though her background is in business, her passion for art has allowed her to combine her Spanish and cultural background to enrich her students with art classes with content in Spanish and a view of worldwide cultures. Veronica’s efforts to promote art, languages, and culture also expanded to the community since her move to Princeton. She organizes cultural events like Day of the Dead and Festival Cultural Latino, and has been involved in many non-profit organizations. She is currently serving as the Vice-Chair of the Human Service Commission and Co-chair of the Princeton Red Umbrella Program, as well as being on Board of Trustees of Housing Initiative of Princeton & a Board Member of the Arts Council of Princeton. In 2009 The ACP recognized her volunteering efforts by giving her the Volunteer Award of the Year.
