Home School Sampler: Drawing, Painting, Clay

Home School Sampler: Drawing, Painting, Clay
Ages: 5 yrs. to 10 yrs.
This program will lead new and returning students through an investigation of various hands-on art activities in mixed media, sometimes separately and sometimes in combination depending on the unit of study. Every unit includes instruction in some aspect of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and collage guided by a general theme (such as “Faces in Art”). Students will be introduced to artists and their work in conjunction with the theme. All the projects are meant to build upon each technique which will be presented using genuine artist materials and methods. This particular group will also incorporate some familiar picture books and illustrators within the projects.
Relevant vocabulary will be presented (including still life, landscape, portraiture, primary colors, values, perspective etc.).  Using different themes, these main forms of art making will be reinforced using a variety of, usually, traditional materials to create a good foundation in the understanding of how art is made and how we look at art.
 Materials included.
