Come explore the exciting world of Pop Art in this week long camp!
Pop Art popped up on the New York art scene 50 years ago. The style takes its name from its use of “popular” themes that appealed to a broad audience (not just the wealthy art buyers): celebrities, entertainment, advertisements, fast food, cartoons, and so much more. Pop artists took everyday subjects and changed them so as to make viewers look at them in a completely different way. ACP instructor Veronica Olivares-Weber will introduce your children to such masters as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Claes Oldenburg, and Roy Lichtenstein and lead them on an eye-popping art adventure creating a variety of mixed media art projects (painting, drawing, sculpture and more)! Using mixed media and everyday products to make extraordinary creations, you too can become a Pop artist!
Camp runs from 9-3:30pm, Monday through Friday, April 22-April 26.
