Learn how to create your own professional graphic designs and artistic illustration projects with Adobe Illustrator. Students will be given a series of exercises and assignments, devised to engage creativity while applying basic techniques of Illustrator to graphic design and illustration. You will learn how to use powerful drawing tool modes, shape creation paths, paint brush choices and text tool options to make your creative designs ideas come to life right in front of you. You will also learn how to use creative color controls, such as blends and gradients, plus layered options, such as opacity and clipping masks. Throughout this class, there will be demonstrations, examples, and group discussion that will accompany each assignment.
In order to participate in this class, you must have purchased Adobe Illustrator. You can purchase it here. This class will be conducted through Zoom and students will recieve the meeting information prior to the first class.
About the Instructor: Barbara DiLorenzo is a children’s book author and illustrator (RENATO AND THE LION, Viking 2017 and QUINCY, little bee books, 2018). She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, and studied under Mary Beth McKenzie at the Art Students League in New York. She is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society as well as the Society of Illustrators.
