This intensive week will examine the basic techniques of ceramics, preparing teens to create functional finished pieces. Teens will focus on the fundamentals of working with clay through techniques such as wedging, forming, centering, and coiling. Students will also be introduced to the pottery wheel, slab roller and the extruder to construct their desired clay piece. Daily demonstrations and discussions on ceramics will round out this immersive week. Taught by ACP teaching artist and Ceramics Studio Manager Kathleen Preziosi.
This class will be taught using social distancing measures. Students will be asked to wear masks or stay at least 6 feet apart from the instructor and other students at all times. Class size will be limited and each student will be given their own supplies for the week.
