Indigo Dyeing & Shibori Techniques

Indigo Dyeing & Shibori Techniques
Shibori is a Japanese method of resist dyeing where artists fold and bind fabric prior to the dyeing process to create beautiful patterns on the material (similar to tie-dyeing). Students will learn a variety of folding and binding techniques, and then immerse their pieces into indigo dye baths. Students should bring up to 10 small to medium items (cloth napkins, baby onesies, t-shirt, etc) from home to dye that are light-colored, prewashed and dried, and are made of 100% natural fibers (such as cotton, silk, wool, linen, etc). Wear clothes that can get messy and prepare to have fun. All levels welcome! Please bring long cuffed kitchen gloves and $10 payable to Kate Eggleston (check or cash).
